Time Period

The time period for Officer of the Month is each calendar month of the year. The Time period for Officer of the Year  is each calendar year.

Eligibility for Awards

These awards are valued at over $1000 for Officer of the Month and over $2000 for Officer of the Year.  To be eligible, the following rules will apply:


1. All candidates must either (a) possess a valid New York State Security Guard license or SORA license for New Jersey branch candidates or (b) be an active local, state or federal law enforcement officer.


2. All candidates an AGA must be an AGA Association member in good standing and present proof of a valid security guard license or LEO appointment. 

How does an Eligible Member become an Officer of the Month award candidate?

Candidates for an Award may be referred for consideration in writing via official company or organization letterhead detailing the meritorious actions of an eligible AGA Association member in good standing by the following entities:


a. The officers and directors of a state registered employer of security guards via official company letterhead.*


Note: The company's Unique ID number (UID) must be clearly indicated in the letter for verification with the New York State Department of State or the New Jersey Division of State Police for NJ SORA licensed individuals.*


b.  The officers and directors of a state registered charity or other nonprofit organization via official organization letterhead with the registration number clearly indicated in the letterhead for verification.

 

c. Management or supervisory personnel of a local, state or federal law enforcement agency on official agency letterhead. The candidate will be required to produce a valid agency ID card for verification before being considered.


d. AGA staff may also submit an eligible member in good standing to the AGA Awards Committee for consideration for Officer of the Month.


*If the registration number (UID, etc.) of a company or organization is not included in the AGA Officer of the Month Candidate submission  letter as indicated above, the candidate will NOT be considered for any award. 


Note: This rule does not apply to law enforcement agencies, they do not have registration numbers and are authorized to operate by state or federal statute laws.


Participation and Selection

1. Selection for AGA Officer Awards are made by AGA Award Committee personnel after careful evaluation of submissions for Officer of the Month at their sole discretion.   Officer of the Year will be made by Award Committee personnel if there are at least two (2) different individuals awarded Officer of the Month for the preceding calendar year from the pool of honorees for that preceding year.


Note: If there are no submissions for the month, there will be NO award for that month. 


2. Winners will be posted on this website, and on various AGA social media accounts.  A press release may be made to major media in the case of exceptional merit or valor.


3.  All participants must agree and abide to the rules, regulations and bylaws of AGA and the various award programs.



Definitions

1. Alliance Group Affiliates, Inc. shall be abbreviated and also known as "AGA" in various documents or online."


2.  "Member in good standing":  For the purposes of these and other awards as determined by AGA or other benefits such as free placement, free career development assistance, and other services as determined by the Group President and School Director, the candidate must be actively involved with AGA, haven taken at least one (1) or more or more paid certification courses with AGA within the calendar year preceding the award.  No exceptions, this is a "members only" program designed to reward and boost the morale of those who support AGA and its missions to serve the community.


3. SORA: Security Officer Registration ACT of New Jersey.


4. Unique ID Number (UID):  A number issued by the NYS Department of State Division of Licensing Services that is published on the NYS Security Guard Registry.


5. LEO: Law Enforcement Officer.


6. Valid Security Guard License:  A security guard card that is not expired during the time of submission for the corresponding award.

Submissions

Officer of the Month: Submissions for Officer of the Month must be made by the fifth day of the following month.


As indicated above, If there are no submissions for the month, there will be NO award for that month.   In addition, if there are less than two (2) different individuals that received Officer of the Month Awards for the preceding calendar year, there will be NO Officer of the Year Award for that preceding year.
